Bajaj Chetak EV launched in Mumbai, Delhi & Goa

Chetak EV

Bajaj Chetak, the first electric two-wheeler from Bajaj Auto, has been launched in Delhi, Mumbai and Goa, the company said.

With this, the scooter — priced at around Rs 1.4 lakh — is now available in 20 cities.

Chetak EV was launched in 8 cities during 2021, including Pune.

The network has now been extended to several cities, including Coimbatore, Madurai, Kochi, Kozhikode, Hubli, Visakhapatnam, Nashik, Vasai, Surat, Delhi, Mumbai and Mapusa.

Bajaj Auto recently said it was setting apart ₹ 300 Cr to ramp up its electric vehicle production capacity.

“Our plan is to double Chetak’s network in the coming few weeks to accommodate the high demand,” it said.

The electric scooter has a waiting period 4 to 8 weeks, the company said, and can be booked online at www.chetak.com.

Bajaj Auto has been late to the EV market, and enters a segment that is already choc-a-bloc with dozens of startups vying to become the next Tesla of the two-wheeler market.

However, said Bajaj Auto, Chetak has been thoroughly tested to ensure dependability.

The company claims that it needs minimal maintenance, with a service interval of 12,000 kilometers or one year (whichever is earlier) and a battery warranty of 3 years or 50,000 kilometers (whichever is earlier).

The scooter is available in colors such as Indigo Metallic, Velutto Rosso, Brooklyn Black and Hazelnut.

The battery can be recharged in 5 hours, with a quick charge capability of 25% in 60 minutes.

Once fully charged, it has a range of 90 kilometers in Eco Mode (as per AIS 040).

The company also claims that Chetak EV is the only high-speed electric two-wheeler made from steel in India.

The model boasts IP67 water resistance rating and a beltless solid gear drive.

Features three riding modes (including a reverse mode), enabling the rider to easily navigate traffic.
