Inox Wind gets 500 MW wind power plant order from Adani Green Energy

Inox Wind is one of India’s largest wind equipment makers

Inox Wind said it has received a contract from Adani Green Energy to build a 501.6 MW wind power project in Kutch District in Gujarat.

The financial details of the contract were not revealed.

Adani Green Energy, a subsidiary of the Ahmedabad-based Adani Group, won the projects under the Solar Energy Corporation of India (SECI) auctions.

Inox Wind said it will deploy a 152 units of 145-meter diameter, 3.3 MW wind turbines at a height of 100 to 120 meters for the project.

Inox said these turbines in the project will be among the largest used in India, as well as among the highest rated in terms of power generation. Typical wind power turbines generate between 1 to 2 MW of power.

The deployment has to be completed in 15 months.

Noida-based Inox Wind ltd is a subsidiary of Gujarat Fluorochemicals Limited.

Besides carrying out projects for others, Inox Wind also has its own portfolio of wind power projects.

The company manufactures most of the turbines and equipments it needs.

It has manufacturing plants in Gujarat, Himachal Pradesh and Madhya Pradesh.

The plant near Ahmedabad and Barwani manufacture blades and towers, while hubs and casings are manufactured at at Una in Himachal Pradesh.

Every year, the company can manufacture equipment to produce 1,600 MW of solar power.

Adani Green Energy is one of India’s largest independent power producer of Renewable Energy.

The company has a renewable portfolio exceeding 2.2 GW. It has a target of increasing its renewable energy portfolio to about 10 GW by 2021.
