Chhatrapati Shivaji International Airport has introduced check in facility from a number of hotels near the airport.
The hotels are Sahara Star, Hyatt Regency, Taj Santacruz, ITC Maratha, Hilton Mumbai International Airport & The LaLiT.
People who check in at the hotel can drop their check-in luggage using self-bag-drop facility and generate a baggage tag using kiosks, avoiding counter queues. However, self-baggage drop is available only on the airlines operating out of Terminal 1 for now, but the hotel check in available for all terminals.
“By the use of this facility, passengers will be able to save on time and have a stress free experience at the airport,” said airport operator GVK Mumbai International Airport Pvt Ltd.
“The integration of new technology allows the processing of a significant number of passengers to be decentralized from the airport and allows for better use of airport resource,” the company added.
It also said its self-service facilities — including kiosk-based check-in, have “drastically reduced” the waiting time and queues at check in counter.
