Bajaj Auto India motorcycle sales down 1% in October

Bajaj Auto said sales of motorcycles in India fell 1% in the festival month of October.

However, a timely growth of 20% in exports of motorcycles helped the company report a 6% growth in overall motorcycle sales during the month.

Total motorcycles sold in India was 2.12 lakh, down from 2.13 lakh last year, and exports of two-wheelers were at 1.14 lakh, up from 0.95 lakh last October.

The number is comparable to the trend seen in other companies. TVS Motor, for example, said , two-wheeler sales in India fell to 270,372 from 272,229 last year.

Total two-wheeler sales for Bajaj Auto was at 3.26 lakh.

With this, total two-wheeler sales in India for Bajaj Auto in April-October period is down 9% at 12.22 lakh, while exports for the period are up 8% at 7.98 lakh. Together, it’s down 3%.

Three-wheeler sales in India were at 35,657 – an all time record, and higher by 38% compared to the same month last year.
