IT outsourcing company Infosys said it has been chosen as a partner by lift-maker KONE for developing and maintaining its enterprise resource planning or ERP system.
Infosys has been able to “transition, elevate, evolve and transform” KONE’s ERP service delivery and landscape, said Nitesh Banga, Senior Vice President and Global Head of Manufacturing, for the IT company.
Infosys will transform and improve the ERP service, running on SAP systems, which will reduce disruptions, reduce costs and modernize the company’s ERP system, he added.
ERP is the key software used by large enterprises. It helps manage various resources such as inventory, sales, manufacturing facilities and so on, and forms the core of any enterprise’s software infrastructure.
SAP and Oracle are the world’s biggest suppliers of ERP software, but the segment has seen massive disruption in recent years due to the emergence of alternative, Internet-based offerings that offer comparable functionality at a fraction of the cost.
Infosys will help the liftmaker make the transition to a more up-to-date ERP system.

Infosys said it will also establish its first Design and Innovation Center in Helsinki, consolidate its presence in the market as well as strengthen its commitment to KONE and other clients in the Nordics region.
The facility will provide end-to-end technology, consulting, and systems integration services, and will house a Design Thinking and Innovation lab.
KONE had annual net sales of EUR 8.8 billion and at the end of the year over 52,000 employees.
