TVS two-wheeler sales rise 22% to 3.5 lakh in September

TVS Motor Company reported one of the strongest increases in its sales in its history, partly due to the compensatory effect of GST-related troubles in the previous month.

Total two-wheeler sales registered a growth of 22.1% with sales increasing from 287,449 units last year to 350,854 units in September 2017.

Within this, domestic two-wheeler sales grew by 20.9% to 307,160.

Within the overall sales, scooter were 121,601 units, up 43% on year.

Motorcycle sales were at 143,923, up 17.2%.

Three-wheeler sales of grew by 54.9% to 8,996 units.

As a result, overall sales was up 23% at 359,850 units in September.

EXPORTS

The Company’s total exports grew by 33.6% to 50,971 units in September 2017. Two-wheeler exports grew by 30.5% increasing to 43,694 units in September 2017. These numbers are included in the overall numbers given above.

QUARTER

During the second quarter, two-wheeler sales of the Company grew by 16.1% increasing to 9.23 lakh units, while three-wheeler sales grew by 23.8% to 0.25 lakh.
