OnePlus Two, the new flagship from the eponymous Chinese firm, garnered reservations of 1 mln within 72 hours of launch, the Chinese company said, adding that it is organizing demos in key cities.

OnePlus will be giving fans across the globe an opportunity to physically experience the OnePlus 2 at pop-up events in New York, San Francisco, London, Paris, Berlin, Milan, New Delhi, Bangalore, and Jakarta on July 31.

The exact details of the demo venues were not revealed. However, fans who register for the phone or otherwise show interest should be able to get more information from the company directly.

OnePlus Two was launched on Tuesday in a global event.

The 16 GB version of the phone is priced at Rs 23,000 and the 64 GB version at Rs 25,000.

However, contrary to expectations, the phone has come with an HD display, and not a quad-HD display.

“Team members from OnePlus will be on hand to demo the OnePlus 2 to fans in person; those users will have an opportunity to receive invites and other exclusive gifts,” the company said.

1 mln bookings is a decent number for the company, though not the highest for any phone. Nearly half a million people registered to buy Lenovo K3 Note in India alone earlier this month.

“The excitement around OnePlus has continued to build to a crescendo with over one million users now registered for an invite to purchase the device – all in less than 72 hours,” the Chinese firm said.

The original OnePlus One sold over 1.5 million units to date, said the brand that was founded in December 2013.

OnePlus is among a clutch of China-based, high-efficiency manufacturers who depend on social media for promotions and online websites for reaching their customers, thereby offering high-end phones at affordable prices.
