TVS Motors domestic two-wheeler sales up by 2% in April

Two-wheeler maker TVS Motors reported an increase of 2% in the domestic two-wheeler sales in April. It sold 2.48 lakh units of two-wheelers in India, up by 6,852 units from last year.

Of the 2.48 lakh units, TVS Motors sold 1.43 lakh of motorcycles and 97,323 lakhs of scooters in April.

Both scooter sales and motorcycle sales increased by 9%, reported the company.

Competitor Bajaj Auto reported an increase of 3% in domestic sales for April. Bajaj sold 2.05 lakh motorcycles in India during April.

EXPORTS

TVS Motors exported 57,377 two-wheelers in April, an increase of 11% from the same month last year.

The company’s total exports grew by 13% to 69,565. Bajaj Auto’s exports grew 8% to 1.68 lakh during the same month

TOTAL TWO WHEELER SALES

The total two wheeler sales of the company, including exports, reported an increase of 4% in April 2019.

TVS sold 3.05 lakh two wheelers in April, up by 12,465 units from last year

The performance of the company in the two-wheeler is higher than that of previous months. In March, the company posted an increase of 2% in the total sales of two-wheelers.

THREE WHEELERS

Three-wheeler sales of the company increased by 11% in the month to 13,104.

TOTAL SALES

TVS Motors registered sales growth of 5% in April 2019. It sold 3.18 lakh units of vehicles in the month as compared to 3.04 lakh units sold last year.

It had posted an increase of 12% for the full financial year 2017-18 that ended in March. The company sold 37.57 lakh units of vehicles in FY 2018-19.

Headquartered in Chennai, TVS Motors is the third largest motorcycle company in India with a revenue of over Rs 15,000 crore as of 2017-18.

A flagship company of the TVS Group, TVS Motor Company is also the 2nd largest exporter in India with exports to over 60 countries.
