VA Tech WABAG gets Rs 575 cr Namami Gange contract

VA Tech WABAG Ltd, one of India’s leading water treatment companies, bagged orders worth Rs 575 cr to design, build, rehabilitate and operate sewage treatment facilities and associated infrastructure under the Namami Gange programme.

Under the project, executed on private-public partnership basis under a hybrid annuity model, WABAG will build sewage and treatment plants over a period of two years in Kolkata and operate and maintain them for a time period of 15 years.

The contract includes the engineering, supply and construction of new sewage treatment plants and the renovation and upgradation of the existing ones under the flagship scheme of the Central Government for the preservation of River Ganga.

Speaking on the order, S Varadarajan, Whole-time Director and Chief Growth Officer, WABAG said theplants will contribute to reducing the discharge of untreated sewage into the Holy Ganga from the state of West Bengal.

Headquartered in Chennai, VA Tech WABAG has operations in more than 20 countries. It has completed over 900 water and wastewater plants worldwide since 1995.
