India’s income tax website revamped with new design

Income Tax Department said it has revamped its website, soon after implementing mega changes to the income tax e-filing website, incometax.gov.in.

The new website, which will be available on incometaxindia.gov.in, has been designed with a user-friendly interface, value-added features, and new modules, the Central Board of Direct Taxes said.

“This website serves as a comprehensive repository of tax and other related information. It provides access to Direct Tax laws, several other Allied Acts, Rules, Income Tax Circulars and Notifications, all cross-referenced and hyperlinked,” it noted.

The site also offers a ‘Taxpayer Services Module’ featuring various tax tools to assist taxpayers in filing their income tax returns.

The revamped website has been aesthetically redesigned with a mobile-responsive layout. The website also has a ‘Mega Menu’ for content, with new features, and functionalities.

Users can compare different acts, sections, rules, and tax treaties on the new website.

It should be noted that incometaxindia.gov.in is not the same as the website used for efiling of tax returns. That website, formerly available at incometaxefiling.gov.in, has been transformed into a subdomain of the main income tax department website.

The efiling facility is now available on the subdomain eportal.incometax.gov.in.

The subdomain offers facilities such as file tax returns for different assessment years, checking the status of your income tax refund and even appling online for a new PAN card.
