SpiceJet enters offline retail, offers free tickets to Goa, Bangkok

Airline SpiceJet said it has opened its first physical store under its new ‘SpiceStyle’ retail brand at Galleria Mall in Gurgaon, near Delhi.

The launch of its first physical store marks SpiceStyle’s entry into the offline segment besides its ecommerce portal and a brand store launched in association with Amazon.

It also announced freebies, including free tickets to Goa and Bangkok for those who buy from its new venture.

“The store will function as a premium channel to offer the latest in fashion and lifestyle across 12 different brands including a signature Rohit Bal collection,” the company said.

SpiceStyle has so far largely been an online effort and sells fashion items such as bags, sunglasses, jewelry, wrist watches, backpacks and silicone luggage tags.

The airline aims to boost its ancillary revenue with the venture. Ancillary revenue for the company has already grown from 6% to around 17% in the last two years.

The airline will offer some discounts and sales under the new venture.

Under the Rohit Bal series, anyone who buys products worth Rs 25,000 and above gets a return ticket for to Goa. In case of a purchase worth Rs 40,000 and above, it will be two tickets.

The company also announced discounts up to 25% on Caprio sunglasses, Lesk jewellery, Forst accessories, Vajero bags & trolleys, Inscripto stationery and Modello collectables, it said.

It will also offering customers a return ticket to Bangkok in the initial period.

Initially conceived as an in-flight only service, SpiceStyle, which is a wholly-owned subsidiary of SpiceJet, now exists in the form of an e-commerce portal. It also recently debuted as a store within a store on Amazon India.

It will offer a “calibrated mix of value and mid-segment pricing,” according to the company.

SpiceJet operates 364 average daily flights to 46 destinations, including 39 domestic and 7 outisde the country. It has 35 Boeing 737NG and 20 Bombardier Q-400s.
