Civil Services preliminary exam 2016 results announced

The Union Public Service Commission has announced the list of around 3,000 candidates who have been selected for the second and final stage of India’s annual civil services examination.

A list of candidates’ roll numbers have been put up on its website.

Less than a third of those who appear for the second round — which comprises of an interview and ‘personality assessment’ — will ultimately end up with a job.

They will be placed as high-ranking officers in various central services such as the Indian Administrative Service, Indian Foreign Service and Indian Police Service.

The annual civil services exam is one of the top four entrance exams in the country, along with the Joint Entrance Exams of the IITs, the Common Aptitude Tests for IIMs and the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test for central medical universities.

The first stage comprised a written test of the candidates’ verbal and reasoning ability as well as knowledge and was held between 3rd December and 9th December.

“The candidates will be required to produce the original certificates in support of their claims pertaining to age, educational qualifications, community, physical handicap and other documents such as Questionnaire, Attestation Form and TA Form, etc. at the time of their Personality Test,” the UPSC said.

It has uploaded the formats for various certificates to be produced on its website, it added.

The interviews are likely to start on March 20, 2017 and will be held at Union Public Service Commission premises at Dholpur House, Shahjahan Road, New Delhi.
