Five lakhs offered for silence: Lakhimpur victim’s mother

The mother of the 14 year old girl alleged to be raped and killed by policemen in Lakhimpur in UP, has alleged that she was offered Rs 5 lakhs in return for his silence on the issue. She, however, did not clarify who offered the bribe.

The woman, Fatima, refused to quieten down and reiterated that her daughter did not commit suicide and was murdered by the policemen. She also alleged that the policemen have destroyed the evidence and cleaned up the room where the incident took place.

“She was killed by those in the police station,” Fatima said. She also alleged that the police are questioning those who are visiting them in their house.

The girl’s five year old brother, Arman, has also said that he saw his sister being taken into the police station.
