BSNL offers 2GB/day + free calls for Rs 339 per month

Bharat Sanchar Nigam Ltd, the state-owned telecom services provider, has launched India’s cheapest daily-data pack at Rs 339 per month.

For the amount, users will get 2 GB of 3G data plus 25 minutes of free calls per day.

The closest tariff plan to this offer is from Reliance Jio, which gives 2 GB per day and unlimited voice calls for Rs 499 per month (28 days).

Similarly, Airtel provides 0.5 GB during the day and 0.5 GB during the night along with unlimited calling for around Rs 350 per month.

Another such plan is from Anil Ambani Group’s Reliance Communications, which provides 0.5 GB per day for just Rs 99 per month.

However, RCom and BSNL only operate on 3G and 2G technology, while Bharti’s offer is valid on 3G and 4G. Reliance Jio operates only on 4G technology.

The biggest drawback to BSNL’s 3G service is that it tends to be congested in certain areas due to the very restricted amount of spectrum and comparatively older technology in use.

Compared to about 50 MHz of spectrum used by Jio and 40 MHz by Bharti Airtel, BSNL has only 10 MHz.

Besides the above scheme, the operator also provides ‘truly unlimited’ data at Rs 1099 for 28 days.
