RCom provides 0.5 GB/day of 3G data at Rs 99 per month

Reliance Communications, the telecom arm of Anil Ambani Group, has unveiled what is probably India’s cheapest 3G data plan.

The company said its subscribers will get 0.5 GB of data every day for 28 days if they recharge with Rs 99.

If they are in a non-3G circle, they can recharge with Rs 49 to get half a GB of data per day for 28 days.

However, if they are a 4G subscriber and using the company’s 4G network, they will get only 2 GB of data in total for the 28 days for Rs 99 with no daily quota.

To get the half-a-GB per day 3G offer, a customer must be in one of the company’s 3G-enabled circles. These are Delhi, Mumbai, Kolkata, Himachal Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, Punjab, Rajasthan and Jammu & Kashmir.

In all other circles, only the 2G and 4G offers are available.

The only data plan that comes close to the new offer in terms of value is Bharat Sanchar Nigam Ltd’s ‘true unlimited’ 3G pack which costs Rs 1,099 for 28 days.

These offers are available to existing users as well, unlike some of the company’s recent plans that were restricted to new users only.

“We still see immense potential in the 3G and 2G markets, which boast of 750 million Smartphones and data-ready feature phones,” said Gurdeep Singh, Co-CEO of Reliance
Communications and head of its consumer business division.

4G users can also recharge with Rs 49 to get 1 GB of data with 28-day validity and with Rs 149 for 3 GB of data with an equivalent validity.

For existing subscribers 2G and 3G, these tariffs do not include any free calls and their voice calls will be charged at 25 paise per minute.

However, for 4G users, any of the three recharges will make all their voice calls free within the Reliance Communications network. All non-RCom calls will be charged at 1 paise per second.
