Including exports, Honda India sold 13,880 cars in May, compared to just 11,342 in April.

The May numbers were slightly better for Amaze, which has seen its numbers fall sharply after the new Honda City was unveiled in February. In April, for example, Honda had sold only 3,355 Amaze sedans, while it sold 7,044 Honda Citys in the same month.

The trend was largely similar in May, though Amaze bounced back a little. Most of the extra numbers came from Amaze, which is priced about 30% cheaper than the city.

In May, a total of 4,752 Amaze were sold while 7,218 Honda Citys were sold.

The small hatchback Honda Brio, which is priced around Rs 5 lakhs on road, also saw a pick up in May compared to April. A total of 1,333 Brios were sold in the month, compared to just  578 in April 2014.

The Honda CR-V sold 59 units in May, compared to 63 units in April.

Exports too rose to 518 cars from 402 in April.
