Gravita is engaged in recycling lead, aluminum, plastics etc. | IMG: Gravita India Gravita India Limited, a fast-growing Indian company in the area of recycling, said it has almost quadrupled the capacity of its lead recycling plant at Chittoor in Andhra Pradesh. With this, the company expects to increase its revenue by around Rs 150 cr per year. At the current run rate, that works out to around 10% of the company's yearly revenue. Gravita India had reported sales of Rs 446.38 cr for the quarter ended June 2021, up around 73% from the corresponding quarter of last year. "The existing capacity of said unit of lead recycling has been increased by 10,200 MTPA (million tonnes per annum) and as on date the total capacity of this unit for lead recycling is 38,200 MTPA," the company said, adding that the plant will cater the needs of domestic as well as international customers. The company said it invested Rs 1 cr to increase the capacity. "All the equipment is designed and developed in the company's in house project division by using its state-of-art technology," Gravita India said. Lead recycling is a key part of the battery lifecycle. The company takes discarded lead acid batteries from automobile workshops, UPS companies, telecom service providers and large IT and other firms who use such batteries to provide uninterrupted power for their operations. "The company has contracts to collect their pan India scrap in cost effective manner and by exporting the finished goods using the nearest Chennai Port thus saving the logistic cost. "This plant will help the company to further strengthen its presence in southern market and exports in South East Asian Markets," it added. Gravita India was established by Rajat Agrawal in 1992 at Jaipur and makes lead sheets, lead powder, lead alloys and so on. It is also present in plastic and aluminium recycling, and produces PET bottle flakes and polypropylene granules.
