There is strong buzz in the market that the Lenovo A6000 Plus, the highest selling phone of this year, is likely to see a Rs 1,000 price cut very soon.

At present, the phone, available only on Flipkart, is priced at Rs 7,499.

UPDATE: The phone’s price has been cut for Diwali.

According to a source, the company is planning a big bang promotion around the model, which is “more or less certain” to involve a price reduction.

The main competitor of the A6000 Plus is the Coolpad Dazen 1, which is available on Snapdeal for Rs 5,999, and the Yu Yuphoria, priced at Rs 7,999.

Another competitor is the Phicomm Energy, available on Amazon at Rs 4,999.

The first three phones have 2 GB of RAM, while the Phicomm model comes with 1 GB of RAM. All of them come with HD (1 MP) displays and 4G support.

While the Yu Yuphoria and the Lenovo A6000 Plus have 16 GB of in-built memory, the Phicomm Energy and Coolpad Dazen 1 come with 8 GB, which can be expanded using a memory card.

Reviews have been good for all four phones, averaging around 4 out of 5 stars.

However, the Lenovo A6000 Plus, being the first one in the market, tends to occupy a special place in customers’ hearts, even though the Coolpad Dazenn 1 and the Yu Yuphoria are arguably better looking phones.

Meanwhile, Lenovo announced that the A6000 and Plus models are now being given over-the-air updates to move them from Android KitKat to Lolipop.

Lenovo also said that it had become the No. 1 smartphone brand in India’s fast growing 4G market.
