Maruti Ciaz sells 5,400 units in Feb, down from Jan

Maruti Suzuki Ciaz sales avoided a steep decline in February, a month after the sedan model notched up sales of 6,000 units in January.

Maruti Suzuki sold around 5,400 units of Ciaz in February, down 6,000 from January, but still up considerably compared to sales of 3,500-4,000 in November and December.

Ciaz continues to trail Honda City,  its biggest competitor. In January, Honda City continued its dominance by selling over 7,600 units, compared to Ciaz’s 6,000 units.

However, for a newcomer, the Maruti Suzuki model has done well. In favor of the model are factors like cheap and easy availability of spare parts, good looks and a wide service network.

In favor of Honda city are factors like a perception of higher drive quality, brand value and refinement.

Another key variant that sold well in February was the Dzire Tour,  whose numbers nearly doubled 2,552 this year.
